We are seeking your library’s support to help raise awareness about elder abuse by organising a display and / or event to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), 15 June 2017.
We know that libraries play an important role in our communities, particularly for older people who find them a safe and welcoming place to visit, so your involvement in WEAAD would be ideal. Whether it’s dressing in purple, hosting a morning tea, selling ribbons, organising a flash mob or convening a community forum, you can help demonstrate support for our seniors and inform communities about elder abuse and how to get help.
If you haven’t already made plans for WEAAD, our website and toolkit have been created to help you plan a WEAAD event – large or small – with suggested activities, information, logos and posters that you can download and display, as well as links to other helpful resources.
We also encourage you to register your event on the WEAAD website, so that we can assist with promotion.
You might like to purchase merchandise such as WEAAD ribbons, bookmarks and magnets. Information on how to do this is under the Resources section of our website, or click here for more information.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can provide any further assistance – and to let us know what you are planning! My direct number is 9655 2157 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
