 Terms of Reference:

1. The group acts as a forum in which to discuss issues relating to providing local studies services to members of the public.

2 To promote an awareness of local studies through Victorian public libraries.

3. To support statewide initiatives in local history.

Membership
1 Local Studies Special Interest Group membership is open to all librarians and archivists working in the area of local studies (local history and family history) in library services and archives in Victoria.
2. At the November meeting, the Group Convenor will be nominated from the group for a 12 month term.
Meetings
The Group will meet on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, November)
Reporting
The Convenor or delegate will report to the Community Participation Subcommittee

We will meet Genealogy Librarian Anne Burrows who will need to sign us in and  take us to a meeting room.
Our hosts will be Dr Marina Larsson and Patricia Pollard, Veterans Heritage Veterans Unit, Department of Planning and Community Development who will speak and show us their digital stories collection.

Parking:                  no time limit. We can park behind the library on Boxshall street

 

Public transport:   5 minute walk from Brighton Station (Sandringham Line)

 

We shall meet in the library and then go together to Brighton Historical Society.

 

We have Brighton Council Chamber (located upstairs)   booked for our meeting  between 1.30 and 4.30pm

 

Di Reidie (President of Brighton Historical Society) is expecting us sometime around 12pm for the tour.

 

Brighton Historical Society is in the Brighton Town Hall on the corner of Carpenter and Wilson Streets Brighton (Melway 67 F10). Entrance on Wilson St.

 

If we have enough time before the meeting we may have a quick look at Bayside Gallery.  In March they will be having "Textile  by Annemienke Mein" and  C.D.Richardson and Margaret Baskerville exhibitions.
