Library Books for East Timor Trivia Night - Geelong

On Saturday 30 October  I had the pleasure of attending the Library Books for Timor-Leste Trivia night held in Geelong West.
I wish to extend my thanks to Patti and her ever energetic team for a fantastic night. With Brian Nankervis in fine form as the compere, we all enjoyed the evening.
The result would have to be a record!... and I'm not saying that  just because we were in Cat's territory.... we actually raised just over $29,000!!!!
Besides the PLVN members attending to enjoy the entertainment and contribute to the fundraising there were several dedicated members who worked hard all night. Patti Manolis who just never seems to  have time to sit down at events such as this....Karyn Siegmann did a fantastic job as assistant to Brian Nankervis.. . Michael Byrne did a fine job as spotter and money collector for the live auction, and the team of Trivia question formulators and adjudicators including Anne Holmes, Sue Gray, Graham Dudley and Patrick Dowling were the machine that kept it all going with some clever and tricky trivia questions.
I need to mention the substantial support received from the State Library of Victoria by way of items for the silent and live auction.
The night demonstrated that Victorian Public Libraries are continuing their very strong support for the development of library services in Timor-Leste.
Congratulations to all.
